Endless fishing opportunities await you in the Keweenaw
Northern Houghton & Keweenaw Counties have many inland lakes well-known for their good fishing, from Emily Lake in the Twin Lakes area to Lake Fanny Hooe near Copper Harbor. Walleye, perch, crappies, bluegill, large and smallmouth bass, rainbow, brook and brown trout, northern pike, tiger muskie………come on up and try your luck.
Huge trophies live in many of the inland lakes on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Lake trout literally surround the region which sticks out into Lake Superior. Many feeder streams have abundant smelt runs each spring when the water temperature reaches about 40 degrees.
In season and weather permitting, Lake Superior waters that are close to the marinas and harbors of North and South Portage Entry, Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Bete Grise can be fished for coho and chinook, salmon, walleye, splake, rainbow and brook trout.
Most of our inland lakes have boat launch sites and many have lodging facilities located on the lake, some with boat rentals available.
