It’s Portage Lake in Houghton, and it’s the winner of Michigan’s Best Inland Lake in the Upper Peninsula by MLive readers.
Portage Lake in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, offers “pristine wetlands, historic lighthouses and sandy beaches,” says Brad Barnett of the Keweenaw Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. “You can spend all day cruising and then tie up next to the Portage Lift Bridge with easy access to Houghton and Hancock downtowns.” It was our winner for Michigan’s Best Inland Lake in the Upper Peninsula.
