Copper Harbor

Disconnect or get your adrenaline pumping, your choice!

In the early 1870’s when the copper rush started Copper Harbor quickly became a well known entry to the peninsula and Fort Wilkins, which was built for the Army to occupy and keep order.  Today you can tour the restored fort and just across the road you can see the Copper Harbor Lighthouse that once guided many shipping and passenger boats. The town received it’s name because of the Harbor that was used to move the Copper that was mined from the area. Copper Harbor is a great place to visit, whether you want to relax and unwind, or take a great adventure on foot, bike, kayak, or boat.  Copper Harbor is also a great place to access Isle Royale, an Island in Lake Superior that is part of 450 islands that make up the Isle Royale National Park.

Copper Harbor is also home to the IMBA Silver Level Ride Center and many miles of other hiking & biking trail. Take a guided kayak tour around the tip of the Keweenaw and take in the crystal clear waters of the harbor.
