Experience the Keweenaw

Experience the Keweenaw

Flowing waterfalls over ancient stones, rushing wind as bikes fly across hard-packed trails, and the gentle bobbing of a sea kayak as it glides across Lake Superior…these experiences, and more, are the essence of the Keweenaw.  For the past three years, organizers of Experience the Keweenaw have invited community members and visitors to participate in activities like guided hikes, group mountain bike rides or kayak demonstrations. But this year, we’re planning to do something a little different…

Virtual Keweenaw Experiences

We invite you to join our volunteer trail and scenic site stewards as we explore a selection of breathtaking experiences through a series of online feature videos. Virtually join other Keweenaw enthusiasts on our Facebook Page throughout the summer as we explore just a few of our local natural and cultural sites. Let us know your thoughts and questions as we navigate these sites, and be sure to check back with us throughout the summer for additional events!

About Experience the Keweenaw

The objective of the Experience the Keweenaw event is multi-faceted. The event promotes regional organizations and the services to the community they provide; identifies and promotes the outdoor resources available throughout the four-counties that help encourage outdoor recreation and wellness activities for our citizens; advocates for and influence the prioritization of regional and county-wide outdoor recreation and wellness initiatives; and serves as a point of convening for area organizations and individuals interested in expanding the opportunities for people to become more engaged in outdoor recreation and wellness.

Experience the Keweenaw is supported through contributions by the Portage Health Foundation, the Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the countless community volunteers and organizations who make the Copper Country a truly special place.
