Author and historian Ginny Simmons Ellis will continue the story of Etta Hancock, which was first mentioned in the May issue of the Keweenaw County Historical Society newsletter, The Superior Signal. Born in Central in 1870 and writing her story in 1942, Etta Hancock told of growing up in the Keweenaw. Etta left a vivid account of her family in Ontonagon and Central, their perilous journey on Lake Superior, and her later adventures in the South. Ginny Ellis, Etta’s great-granddaughter, will bring Etta’s photo album from the late 19th century, tell more of Etta Hancock Cubberly’s story, answer questions, and invite us to share our own Keweenaw connections, as Etta did.
