Jouhikko, instrument people hate to love, is a traditional, three-stringed lyre from Finland. Now, first time in the US, you have a chance to build one with instructor Alice Margerum.

- 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (possibility to continue after 3 p.m. if needed) Jouhikko building at The Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock. Session includes a break for lunch. Students are responsible for their own lunch.
Saturday June 23, 2018
- 9 a.m. Jouhikko building class continues until completion at Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock.
- 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jouhikko playing workshop with Clare Zuraw at Misery Bay School, Toivola.
Two-day workshop includes all materials except bow. The registration fee includes a seat in the Jouhikko playing workshop in Toivola.

This workshop is a part of Juhannus festival. The FAFS is designed to provide instruction in Finnish folk arts, with a goal of creating a new generation of tradition bearers in Michigan’s Copper Country and beyond.
