At the time of its 1888-1889 construction, the Union Building provided hall space for Calumet's Free & Accepted Masons on the third floor and Order of the Odd Fellows on the second floor. Their auxiliaries and many other groups utilized the upstairs meeting halls while businesses like the Keweenaw Printing Company (in photo) occupied street level storefronts.
