Geology and Central Mine: A Walking Trail
Join us exploring the new trails at Central Mine as we walk through time as well as the woods. See the rocks and understand the geologic processes that left the copper in place in the Keweenaw. Examine some of the natural plants and wildlife along the trials. See the locations that the early miners used to develop one of the first and most profitable mines in the Keweenaw. Explore the town site to visualize what life was like for these rugged pioneers 160 years ago. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring a walking stick if you normally use one.
