Citizen's Night Ski Race Series

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Back by popular demand, the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski program and the Tech Trails Staff will once again host the Citizen's Night Ski Race Series at the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Trails and Recreational Forest this winter.
Whether you're looking to test your competitive limits, enjoy the sport of skiing with fellow community members, or get your family out to play in the snow and enjoy post-ski smores and hot cocoa, this community ski series provides all with the opportunity to get out and play in our winter wonderland.
The first race of the series will be held on January 15, 2019, followed by events held on February 5, February 26, and March 26. All races will start at 6 p.m. under the lights of the Tech Trails and are FREE (trail pass or membership). The races will be mass start race or fun ski with lengths of 3km and 5km. Race options include skate and classic participation, and will feature a set loop through ski series for participants to track their improvement throughout the series.
Prizes of Michigan Tech apparel will be given away to the most improved racer, the quickest finisher, the most kilometers skied throughout the series, Grand Finale best costume, and Grand Finale cross country cross best trick. Social hour will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. following all races, and will feature marshmallows and hot cocoa around a bonfire.
Course marking and timing will be provided by the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team coaching staff and student-athletes, and course grooming will be provided by Tech Trails Facilities Manager Scott Jackson and staff.
