Alden Steck, a nationally recognized artist and Copper Country native, built a summer cottage in Eagle River in the 1930s Through the 1970s Alden traveled the Keweenaw with his sketchbook, gathering ideas for his work. While his art reached national audiences, many of his subjects were from the Copper Country including scenes from Eagle River, Phoenix, etc. This open house will include a presentation about Alden, his work and its importance to the Copper Country and national art scene. There will be an exhibit of many of his paintings in the Houghton Township/Eagle River Museum Building from August 7 through August 24 during the normal Museum hours- Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 12 P.M. until 4 P.M
