Among the most interesting structures of the Keweenaw Peninsula are the lighthouses, an important factor in transporting the mineral resources of the copper district. Millions of pounds of copper were mined and shipped from the area. The "10 lights of the Keweenaw" offer a unique look into Keweenaw's maritime history.

The original tower was built in 1870 on Mendota Point to guide ships into Lac La Belle through the Mendota Ship Canal. The present lighthouse was built in 1895 and abandoned by the Coast Guard in 1960. It is now a private residence.

When: Accessible Memorial Day through mid October.
Located at the east point of the Harbor entrance, this lighthouse is now a part of the Ft. Wilkins State Park Complex. The current lighthouse was built in 1866 and is accessible only by boat tour from the Copper Harbor marina.

Address: Keweenaw County
This light, located west of Manitou Island off the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, went into operation on November , 1867. The last known resident keeper left in 1897, after which it was maintained by the keepers from Manitou Island. Abandoned and in poor condition due to its exposed location, it is only accessible by boat.

The original lighthouse was built in 1850 on the island at the eastern tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The iron skeletal light tower, the oldest on the Great Lakes, was constructed in 1861. This structure is only accessible by boat.

When: Open early June through mid-October.
Located at the west end of Eagle Harbor, the present brick structure was built in 1871. It is now a part of the Keweenaw County Historical Society's Light Station Museum Complex and is open to the public.

This lighthouse, located at the south bend of the Eagle River, went into operation in 1854. It's service ended in 1908 and it is now a private residence.

Address: Houghton County
This light is located at the end of the breakwall at McLain State Park, 9 miles north of Hancock on M-203. The 50' square steel tower was built in 1950.

This 31' octagonal steel tower with automated light at the end of the long breakwall on the White City (east) side of the Portage River, was built in 1920.
