Fishing Tournament

Gregoryville
Gregoryville was located opposite Lake Linden across Torch Lake in the approximate area of the current Maple Leaf Bar. Settled in 1867, it was a mill and lumber camp that furnished lumber to local mining companies. It even had its own 1/2 mile long race track. -
Houghton County Historical Museum Complex
This 15 acre campus on the old Calumet & Hecla millsite along the shore of Torch Lake houses the Houghton County Historical Museum and the Copper Country Railroad Heritage Center. The campus also features the Traprock Valley One-room Schoolhouse, the Mineral Range Depot, a historic WPA-constructed log cabin and rides behind Old #3, a Lake Linden & Torch Lake Railroad steam locomotive. Admission fee. A Heritage Site of the Keweenaw National Historical Park. Gift shop on premises. Off season tours and field trips can be arranged. Hungarian Falls
The Upper Hungarian Falls, about 10 feet wide, is located in a beautiful hardwood forest, and drops about 25 feet over a wall of red stone. Downstream the Hungarian Creek slides over the Hungarian Dam to create an unnamed 5-foot falls just below on the far side of the river whose rock walls and ledge appear almost handmade. About 100 yards downstream is a second unnamed falls of about 7 feet into a small pool. Another 250 feet downstream a third unnamed falls drops 25 feet in a shaded canyon whose moss covered walls extend from both sides of the falls. 400 feet downstream is the Lower Hungarian Falls, the most spectacular of all the falls, that drops another 15 feet over terraced rock. To view the entire falls, you need to walk along the top of the ridge as it extends out from the falls (use extreme caution if viewing the falls with children) to see the spectacular 50 foot-plus drop through the thick forest. Spectacular in the spring, flowage can vary greatly during summer and fall. Directions: Along M-26 west of Lake Linden in Tamarack City, turn north onto 6th Street and go 2 blocks to a fork. Take the left fork and drive uphill to the third trail road on the left. Turn left and go .2 miles to a fork. The right fork goes to the Upper Falls, the left fork to the lower falls. It is about a 15-20 minutes walk to the falls. -

Schoolcraft Township ParkThis county park is located on Lake Superior east of Lake Linden on Mink Farm Road. From Lake Linden take the Bootjack Road to the Rice Lake Road to the Big Traverse Bay Road and follow this to the park or from Gay, take the Gay-Lake Linden Road to the Big Traverse Bay Road. Torch Lake
Torch Lake is connected to Houghton County's Portage Lake, therefore has access to Lake Superior. Northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie and perch make this a popular lake to fish. Public access and boat launch is available at Bootjack (along the Bootjack Road southeast of Lake Linden) and the Lake Linden Village Park. White City
Take the Bootjack Road south from Lake Linden to the Jacobsville Road, follow to White City. In the early 1900's White City was a premiere summer resort with hotel-restaurant-saloon, amusement park with roller coaster and merry-go-round, rental cottages, dance pavilion, bandstand and a 75 foot steamer dock. Excursion boats ran several times a day from the Houghton/Hancock area. -
White City Park
This day-use township park at the end of the White City Road south of Lake Linden, has picnicing, fishing, and swimming on the sandy shores of Lake Superior. There is a boat launch nearby. -
