Brockway Mountain Audubon Sanctuary
The 1/2 mile Oren Krumm Trail is located within the Brockway Mountain Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary. Hiking is moderately difficult with gently rolling hills to steep inclines with loose footing. Great views of Lake Superior, and abundant bird and wildlife. Twinflower, many orchids, and plants of rock outcrops and wet forest are found here.
Hunting, trapping, pets, camping, fires, ORV's, motorcycles and snowmobiles are prohibited. The taking of any specimens is restricted.
DIRECTIONS: From Hancock, take US-41 north to Phoenix. Take M-26 approximately 13 miles north to the junction of M-26 and Brockway Mountain Drive. Turn right onto Brockway Mountain Drive and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the Brockway Mountain Audubon Sanctuary parking area and sign on the left.

Copper Falls
Located on the Eagle Harbor Cut-Off Road, between Eagle Harbor and US-41. Copper Falls was settled about 1845 around the Copper Falls Mine. Its population went from 500 in 1877 to 30 in 1920.

Dapple Gray Antiques
The antique shop, located in Dapple-Gray Bed & Breakfast, is general line Victorian with an emphasis on glass (1820's Flint to 1890's Pattern) and ceramics (early-1800's Creamware and Pearlware to 1850's Transfer). Eagle Harbor Environs
The Eagle Harbor Environs encompass the Eagle Harbor Red Pine Dunes, the Dean Webster and the Cy Clark Memorial Nature Sanctuaries. The approximately 8 mile trail is easy to moderate with flat rolling terrain. Parts of the trail are on private property.
Features include Long Lake, stabilized sand dunes, marsh areas and surrounding bluffs.The trail is in a Michigan Nature Association Sanctuary and all sanctuary rules apply. Collecting plants, seeds, or animals of any kind is strictly forbidden. Stay on established trails. Only foot traffic is allowed - the use of all motorized vehicles or mountain bikes is prohibited. No hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, campfires, or pets are permitted. Carry out all refuse. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
DIRECTIONS: From Hancock follow US-41 to Phoenix. Turn left onto M-26 and follow to just before Eagle Harbor. The trail, an old bush road (there are several loop options) begins on the south side of M-26 .

Eagle Harbor Light Station Museum Complex
Besides the lighthouse, the complex includes a Maritime Museum in the old fog signal building, a Keweenaw History Museum located in the old U. S. Coast Guard Station garage, and the Commercial Fishing Museum located in one of the assistant keepers buildings. Open daily noon - 5 pm in June & September, 10 am - 5 pm July & August.

Eagle Harbor Lighthouse
Located at the west end of Eagle Harbor, the present brick structure was built in 1871. It is now a part of the Keweenaw County Historical Society's Light Station Museum Complex and is open to the public.

Eagle Harbor Ski Trail
The Eagle Harbor Ski Trail begins at the west end of Pine Street just outside of Eagle Harbor. The classic wilderness single track trails are groomed by volunteers as needed, usually on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. A donation box is located at the trailhead. The main loop runs around Long Lake with many shortcuts and additional loops that can take you as far as Great Sand Bay.

Eagle Harbor Township Recreation Area
The Eagle Harbor Township Recreation Area includes well-defined sand channels and sandy defiles with red & white pine mixed with red oak and boreal forest. There are small, shallow lakes surrounded by dunes with diverse plant communities. Easy hiking is available along historic two track road grades related to logging and copper mining operations at Copper Falls. The dunes and marshes lie at the base of the Keweenaw escarpment where prehistoric copper miners are known to have mined native copper. The area includes the Eagle Harbor Red Pine Dunes & Cy Clark Memorial Nature Sanctuaries. Parking is available off M-26 at the end of Pine Street, for the approximately 9 mile long trail, with several loop options.
Motorized vehicles, camping and fires are prohibited. Foot traffic only is allowed in Michigan Nature Association sanctuaries.Open year round for hiking and cross country skiing.

Eagle River Museum
The Keweenaw County Historic Society's Eagle River Museum showcases artifacts and pictures of the Cliff Mine, which operated from 1844-1870, Clifton, Eagle River, Phoenix and Crestview. All the copper from the Cliff was shipped from Eagle River.

This county park, located 5 miles east of Eagle Harbor on Lake Superior, is day-use only with a rocky beach, pavilion and picnic area.

George Hite Dunes and Marshes Preserve
The 360 acre preserve includes about 40 acres of Lake Superior coastal dunes and protects ancient bedrock, two small lakes, forested ridges, numberous ponds, swales, and marshes, and Owl Creek, which empties into Lake Superior. The preserve is open to the public for non-motorized recreation, including the enjoyment of nature, hiking and cross country skiing. The preserve is located about 2.5 miles southwest of Eagle Harbor near Great Sand Bay and is adjacent to other land protected by Eagle Harbor Township and the Michigan Nature Association's Redwyn Dunes Nature Sanctuary. Helmut & Candis Stern Preserve at Mt. Lookout
A Nature Conservancy site, the Helmut & Candis Stern Preserve includes 1,371 acres that encompass several thousand feet of frontage along Lake Bailey, a 200+ acre glacial lake and steep wooded slopes with a mix of hardwood and conifer forests and offers spectacular views of Lake Superior and the Keweenaw from atop Mt. Lookout, nearly 700 feet above the shoreline. Motorized vehicles, off-road vehicles, bicycles, pets, smoking, camping and fires are prohibited. Open year round 7 days a week for hiking, skiing, showshoeing, nature study, research projects and environmental education programs.
From Hancock take US-41 north to Phoenix. Turn left at Phoenix and follow M-26 to Eagle Harbor. Turn south in Eagle Harbor on the Cut-off Road and drive to the first two-track on the left. Follow the 2-track under a telephone line to where parking is available at the base of a large sand dune. Proceed on foot to the 2-track Nicole Bloom Trail that leads to the top, a 2 to 3 hour hike of under 3 miles that has a steep beginning but changes to a gradual incline.

Holy Redeemer Church
This is the oldest Catholic church in the Upper Peninsula. It was built in 1852 under the direction of Father Frederic Baraga and is still in use today as a memorial to him.
Services are held in summer.

Holy Transfiguration Monastic Park
By means of this park the monks of the Holy Transfiguration Skete share with you some of the peace and beauty of their monastic patrimony. Respect the land and the peace of the others who may now be sharing it with you. Take only photographs and leave only footprints.
The trails traverse about 150 feet of elevation over a half mile of distance and are for able bodied pedestrian traffic only. The Forest Trail heads northwest about one half mile to the gorge at Jacob's Creek; the Ruins Trail heads southwest to the remains of the Arnold Mine buildings; the Creek Trail completes the 2.5 mile circuit. No wheeled vehicles of any kind are permitted.
The trail system is accessed from the west side of Eagle Harbor Road about 300 yards north of Jacob's Creek. A small sign bearing a cross marks the Trailhead. Limited parking is possible alongside the Monastery Service Drive up to the gate. Please do not block the drive or access to the gate.

Jampot
The Jampot is operated by the brothers of the Society of St. John, a Catholic Monastery of the Byzantine Rite, located on the shores of Lake Superior near Jacob's Falls. Jams, jellies, conserves, bakery and confections. Gift boxes are available.
The Jampot is open from mid-May to mid-October, 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday. On-line ordering is available year round.

Keweenaw Shore/Upson Lake Nature Sanctuary
At the Keweenaw Shore Nature Sanctuary trail head, across M-26 from Esrey Park, the trail takes the hiker over the ridge to the Upson Lake Nature Sanctuary. The total distance is two miles. This is a great trail that gives you a cross-section of Keweenaw geology and habitats. This is the only trail that is not a loop.
The trail is in a Michigan Nature Association Sanctuary and all sanctuary rules apply. Collecting plants, seeds, or animals of any kind is strictly forbidden. Stay on established trails. Only foot traffic is allowed - the use of all motorized vehicles or mountain bikes is prohibited. No hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, campfires, or pets are permitted. Carry out all refuse. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
DIRECTIONS: From Hancock drive north on US-41 to the M-26 junction at Phoenix. Turn left, drive through Eagle River and Eagle Harbor. From the M-26/Eagle Harbor Cut-off Road in Eagle Harbor, turn left and drive 6 miles on M-26 to Esrey Park. The trailhead is across the highway and to the right about 50 yards.

Lake Bailey
Lake Bailey, in Keweenaw County, is a 204 acre lake with an average depth of 3 to 6 feet known for big, fat perch and northern pike.

There is a large sign and parking area on the south side of the road. A hiking trail is about 2 miles up and back and goes through dense woods. Views are spectacular and birds abundant. The sanctuary is entirely wooded by a mixture of northern conifers & hardwoods. Twinflower, many orchids, plants of rock outcrops and wet forest floor are common. Notable are rare and threatened plants.
Hunting, trapping, pets, camping, fires, ORV's, motorcycles and snowmobiles are prohibited. The taking of any specimens is restricted.

DIRECTIONS: From Hancock, take US-41 north to Phoenix. Turn left onto M-26 and follow to Lake Bailey, 3.5 miles east of Eagle Harbor. There is a large sign and parking area on the south side of the road, just past the Lake Bailey public access at the east end of Lake Bailey.

Lake Breeze
The Lake Breeze, a unique summer lodge, is located on Lake Superior in the village of Eagle Harbor. Built in the 1850's, the building was originally a warehouse for shipping merchant William P. Raley. Today, we offer harborview and lakeside guest rooms, each with a private bath.

Rathbone Schoolhouse
Part of the Keweenaw County Historic Society Museum complex, this one room school served the community of Eagle Harbor from 1853 to 1972. It was in this building that Justus H. Rathbone conceived the idea for the ritual of the Knights of Pythias, a secret fraternal society which he founded. Its interior is furnished as it was in its time as a school and includes Knights of Pythias exhibits.
Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm early June through mid-October.

Silver River Falls
Located 4.5 miles east of Eagle Harbor along M-26 near the western base of Brockway Mountain Drive.
The Silver River Falls, about 15 feet wide, begins a short walk downstream from M-26 with a series of rapids that rush towards the falls. The stream divides at the falls to drop about seven feet over a rock outcropping then continues as rapids to another drop into a small pool. Here the river narrows to about 7 feet and continues on through the forest to Lake Superior. A small roadside park with picnic tables and grills is located just across M-26.
