"America By Food"

The Smithsonian Institution's "Key Ingredients: America By Food" exhibit will come to Calumet's Keweenaw Heritage Center from July 13 to August 26, 2007. The exhibit looks at America's connection to food through historical, social & regional traditions of celebrations and everyday meals and will include state and local versions.

Events include exhibits at the Keweenaw Heritage Center in Calumet, the Copper Range Museum in South Range, Quincy Mine and the Michigan Tech University Archives in Houghton; "Food Talks" at various locations; "Food Demonstrations & Tours" including pasties at The Hut in Kearsarge, sausage making at the Heritage Center, making bread at the Irish Times in Laurium and a tour of Baroni's canning facility in Calumet.
