4th Thursday in History

May 22, 2008
Laurium

The Keweenaw National Historical Park's 4th Thursday in History series presents "The Biggest House in Town - The Laurium Manor Turns 100" at 7 pm on Thursday, May 22 at the Laurium Manor Inn at 320 Tamarack Street in Laurium.

Thomas H. Hoatson, owner of the Calumet & Arizona Mining Company, built this 45 room mansion in 1908. In addition to the $50,000 he paid for its construction, $35,000 was spent on furnishings. Learn about Hoatson, the house and the architects responsible for this grand home. Laurium Manor will be open for self-guided tours after the presentation.

Fourth Thursday in History is a monthly series of talks or demonstrations related to local history. All presentations are free and open to the public. For further information, including directions or site accessibility, contact the Park at 906-337-3168 or visit www.nps.gov/kewe.
