Torch Lake is connected to Houghton County's Portage Lake, therefore has access to Lake Superior. Northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie and perch make this a popular lake to fish. Public access and boat launch is available at Bootjack (along the Bootjack Road southeast of Lake Linden) and the Lake Linden Village Park. A shallow, sandy swimming beach is also available at the park.
