The Michigan Tech Cross Country Ski Trail System off MacInnes Drive in Houghton, has a 24km ungroomed recreation trail open to snowshoers. The Copper Harbor Pathway has 15km+ trails open to showshoeing. The Swedetown Recreation Area in Calumet has 10km.

Many Michigan Nature Association Sanctuaries in the area have trails open to showshoers including: In Keweenaw County, the Black Creek Nature Sanctuary at the end of the Sedar Bay Road, the Eagle Harbor Environs south of M-26 in Eagle Harbor, the Keweenaw Shore Nature Sanctuary south of M-26 at Esrey Park or the Redwyn Dunes Nature Sanctuary on the east side of M-26 at Great Sand Bay.  In Houghotn County, the Gardner's Creek Nature Trail at the Calumet Township Park on Lakeshore Drive west of Calumet, the Lake Linden Hubbell School Forest trail off the Bootjack Road in Lake Linden and the Sturgeon Sloughs Wildlife Area south of Chassell are open for year round use by cross country skiers and snowshoers.  Showshoe rental information is available under the Service category.  Please stay off the groomed snowmobile and cross country ski trails and please respect private property.
