  • Sand Point Charters
Enjoy sport fishing for Lake Trout, Coho Salmon and Steel Head on Lake Superior.  How about catching some Pike, Small Mouth Bass and Pan Fish while spin casting on Lac La Belle with Captain Brian.  Relax while jigging or trolling at Stannard Rock, Bete Grise, or fishing our inland lake Lac La Belle.  Charter a lighthouse cruise or scenic tour, enjoy the big lake, catch a trophy fish, explore the rugged shoreline, or soak up the sun aboard the "Fishin Mission." Fishing and sightseeing charters are available on 2 boats: The “Fishin’ Mission” is a comfortable 30' Yacht with a large cockpit and plenty of room for up to 6 and comforts including a private head (bathroom). She’ll get you out and back quickly and safely with the power of twin engines. The “Helm-n-Buoys” is a 19 foot heavy welded aluminum craft with 3 separate modes of propulsion. Both boats are equipped with all of the fishing equipment and safety gear. Your Captain is a family man and experienced fisherman. He is happy to share his love of the lake through history, fish tales, and fishing tips with his “crew.” Brian grew up fishing and boating on Lac La Belle and Lake Superior, and has lived in the Keweenaw most of his life. Your Catch from Lake Superior is excellent tasting and healthy to eat. Lively Coho, King Salmon, and Steel Head are possible, but Lake Trout is the predominant catch. We’ll fillet and bag your catch at the end of the day. At Stannard Rock Lighthouse: Native Lake Trout is the catch of the day, 35 miles off shore. We’ll troll for the big ones, and you’ll hear “fish on,” so be ready. It’s a blast! This trip is for the adventurous and is a 3-hour round trip boat ride, plus up to 7 hours to fish. Half day Fishing: Bete Gris. Bete Gris is a cold, crystal clear bay in Lake Superior just out of the channel from Lac La Belle. This is the Captain’s favorite get-away. Fishing/Sightseeing Combination: Near the Lac La Belle Channel is the privately owned Mendota Lighthouse. Down the scenic rocky shore of Lake Superior you can see Smith Fishery, the Montreal River where it empties into the Big Lake, and Bare Bluff, a sheer Keweenaw cliff. At the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, we’ll pass the lonely Gull Rock Lighthouse, on a rock in the middle of the passage. This trip will include up to 3 hours of excellent fishing time. 2-1/2 Hour Sightseeing Cruise: 3 Lighthouses- The working Manitou Light will appear on the east end of the Island as we follow the above tour, and in addition, we’ll cruise the perimeter of the Island.
